Biosketch

Dr. Assi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Preventive Medicine and Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita.  She received her M.D. from the American University of Beirut, then completed an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, followed by a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and an MPH degree at the University of Kansas in Kansas City. In addition she underwent subspecialty training in Transplant Infectious Diseases at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

She is working closely with the transplant teams at Via Christi St. Francis to screen patients prior to transplantation, and update transplant protocols in regards to prevention and treatment of infections following transplantation.

In 2007, Dr. Assi became a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita.  She serves as course Director for the Health of the Public clerkship with 4th year medical students. Her current research interests include quality improvement in the health care setting and immunocompromized patient care.
